Rain has forced Racing NSW officials to postpone the Macquarie Picnics scheduled for Trangie today.

The track was deemed not suitable for racing after NSW stewards conducted an inspection earlier this morning, Saturday July 26.

Club Secretary Emma Finn said weather was a concern and stewards inspected the track and it was too wet.

''Farmers will be happy the rain was badly needed so we had to call the meeting off.''

Held in December after Christmas for many yearsbefore a switch of date to July the club is considering a new raceday.

''We have big support from sponsors and our community so we will work with Racing NSW for another day.'' she said.

The rain also postponed a meeting at Inverell.
