Two men have been charged in Walgett as part of an ongoing investigation into the supply of prohibited drugs.

Established in August, Strike Force Elwick was tasked with investigating the supply of prohibited drugs in the region.

Yesterday, Thursday 11 November, officers attended two Walgett homes with search warrants at 7am.

During the searchers, officers seized electronic devices, a motorcycle, methylamphetamine (commonly known as ice) and cannabis. All items will undergo further examination.

At the time of the search, a 33-year-old man was arrested and taken to Walgett police Station, where he was charged with six different offences, some more than once.

The offences include two counts of supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis, two counts of knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, and conducting drug premises where children are exposed.

He appeared at Walgett Local Court the same day, where he was formally refused bail to reappear at Walgett Local Court on Tuesday 23 November.

A short time later, officers arrested a 39-year-old man on Peel Street, Walgett, where they seized his mobile phone and more than $7000 cash.

The man was charged with two counts of supply prohibited drug and participate criminal group and contribute criminal activity.

He was granted strict conditional bail and will appear at Walgett Local Court on Tuesday 23 November.

Central North Police District Commander Acting Superintendent Trent Swinton said the arrests are a result of four months of investigations undertaken by Walgett officers.

"This investigation shows the community that those individuals or groups who wish to undertake unlawful activities will be identified and investigated," he said.

Investigations are ongoing.
