UPDATE: Bourke teens charged over alleged break-insTwo teenagers have faced court today charged with multiple offences committed in the Bourke township last month.

Update:

A third teenaged boy has today (Thursday 3 February 2022) faced court after being linked to two break-ins and a police pursuit in the state’s north last week involving two other teenagers.


Following police inquiries, about 8.30am yesterday (Wednesday 2 February 2022), officers attended a home in Orange and arrested a 15-year-old boy.


He was taken to Orange Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal and never licensed person drive vehicle on road.


Following further inquiries, the boy was additionally charged with seven counts of aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal, two counts of be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner and robbery armed with offensive weapon relating to earlier property related offences in Dubbo, Orange, Bathurst and Blayney.


The boy was refused bail to appear at a children’s court today (Thursday 3 February 2022).


The other two teens, aged 15 and 16 who were both arrested and charged earlier this week, remain before the courts.

Two teens will face court today (Wednesday 2 February 2022) charged after two break-ins and a police pursuit in the state’s north last week.


About 3.30am on Tuesday 25 January 2022, three youths, allegedly armed with knives and glass bottles, forced their way into a unit on Tarcoon Street, Bourke, threatening the 24-year-old resident, before his mobile phone and car keys were stolen.


Officers attached to Central North Police District attended and commenced an investigation.


About an hour later, a 20-year-old woman woke to find a youth, allegedly armed with a knife, in her home on Wortemurtie Street, Bourke. He allegedly took her car keys and mobile phone before driving away her hatchback.


The woman, and her 18-month old baby, were not injured and police were alerted.


A description of the car was circulated with police involved in two pursuits around Bourke, which were terminated each time when they lost sight of the vehicle. It was found about 1pm Thursday (27 January 2022), burnt-out behind a levee bank between the Kamilaroi and Mitchell highways, Bourke.


Following further inquiries, officers attended homes in Bourke yesterday (Monday 31 January 2022), and arrested two boys, aged 15 and 16. They were taken to Bourke Police Station and charged.


The 16-year-old boy has been charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal, police pursuit – not stop – drive at speed, and never licensed person drive vehicle on road.


The 15-year-old boy has been charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal, and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.


They were refused bail to appear before a children’s court today. Investigations are continuing.
