When asked yesterday if he was expecting case numbers in regional NSW to increase today, particularly in Walgett, WNSWLHD Chief Executive Scott McLachlan said it wouldn't surprise him.
"I expect we will see some growing numbers of community transmission or at least household transmission within Walgett - the confirmed case is being supported but with five other close contacts in the house," Mr McLachlan said.
"We know this is a risky time and that we've got a lot of support in that household."
Stay at home orders have also been extended to all NSW residents who has been in the Australian Capital territory (ACT) since Thursday 5 August after a person tested positive in Canberra yesterday, which also resulted in the ACT entering lockdown.
The border between the ACT and NSW has also been tightened with anyone entering NSW who has been in the ACT in the last 14 days also needing to complete a declaration form through the Service NSW website.
