It was bright and sunny skies to welcome back the Walgett Charity Bushman’s Carnival on the weekend after a two year break.
The three day event kicked off on August 19 at the Walgett Showgrounds, where the annual Walgett rodeo and campdraft saw riders from across the state return to the competition.
Committee President Guy Yeomans said the event was a fitting return to action after the break.
“There were a lot of spectators, big crowds, and the weekend was unbelievable weather wise…we just had a really good weekend,” Mr Yeomans said.

“Covid stopped us for those two years but it was good to get something on. We had the community come out and people came from everywhere,” he said.
As Walgett’s annual rodeo and campdraft, the event is designed to give back to the community, with profits going back to organisations who lend a hand running the weekend.
“We try to give out $10,000 a year to our community groups…but if we end up with more money, we’ll donate that to other causes,” Mr Yeomans said.
While the total number of funds raised across the weekend is yet to be counted, Mr Yeomans is confident that enough was raised to give back to the community and all that contributed.

With various events throughout the weekend, Saturday was also filled with live entertainment from Maddie Warden, Brad Cox and Hurricane Fall.
The event was part of a series of rodeo and campdraft events that will be broadcast at a later date on free-to-air 7MATE.
“Thank you very, very much to the community, cattle donors and transport companies...we couldn’t run without them,” Mr Yeomans said.
