A new mural showcasing and promoting harmony is officially completed in Fox Street, Walgett.
Lightning Ridge artist John Murray and Walgett Aboriginal artist Frank Wright collaborated across Youth Week, working with artistic helper Bob Barrett and other young locals.
The mural showcases the Aboriginal storyline of Walgett's river system, highlighting the meeting of Walgett's two rivers- the Namoi and Barwon rivers. John's emu characters are dressed and styled up representing diverse groups of people across the Walgett community.

Walgett artist Frank Wright said the artwork has several underlying messages.
"We can all live in harmony, support each other and get along with each other," Mr Wright said.
"That is our choice, and it is a positive thing, that is the message and interpretation that I hope to encourage residents and visitors to get out of this large scale painting".

Award winning Lightning Ridge artist John Murray is well- known for his large scale public works showcased across the Western Plains region.
Mr Murray has local ties to the community, working in Walgett over 35 years ago.
"Walgett is a great town and has many community champions within, from many different backgrounds, just like this painting depicts," Mr Murray said.
"Frank and I have been wanting to work together and collaborate our skill sets and visions for quite some time, so it seems fitting that as artists from different backgrounds, two different towns and two different life stories we collaborated with the Council, community members, worked together, consulted and here is an artwork showcasing just that.
"Harmony is an amazing visual outcome," he said.
Walgett Shire Council's Manager of Community Development George McCormick says the 'Harmony' mural has already attracted tourists into the main street of Walgett. "
The artistic project has been in the works since before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
