Wanted man found hiding in cupboard

A man wanted on outstanding warrants at Bourke has been charged.


Officers from Central North Police District have been conducting inquiries to locate a 25-year-old man wanted on four outstanding warrants.


Following inquiries, police attended a home on Mooculta Street, Bourke, about 2.15pm on Monday (20 February 2023), and arrested a 25-year-old man after he was found hiding in a cupboard.



He was taken to Bourke Police Station where the outstanding warrants were executed for four counts of stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (domestic), larceny and shoplifting.


The man was also charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence - inflict actual bodily harm in relation to an alleged break in at a home on Mertin Street on Saturday 11 February 2023 where the occupant was assaulted.


He appeared at Bourke Local Court yesterday (Tuesday 21 February 2023), where he was formally refused bail to appear at the same court at a later date.
