The Warren shire will soon see further improvements to its local oval and swimming pool undertaken with the local council's masterplan for a multi-million dollar sporting and recreational facility set to be finalised at its next council meeting.

The Warren Shire Council's Carter Oval Youth Sporting Precinct including Warren War Memorial Swimming Pool Masterplan closed for public consultation at the end of October.

According to council, the masterplan is intended to revive both facilities into a state-of-the-art sporting and recreational precinct, targeted at youth, for both the Warren shire and surrounding areas.

Council's General Manager Gary Woodman said there were around 11 submissions to the draft masterplan, which was already based on community feedback previously provided to council.

"I would normally expect that type of number for a consultation like this," Mr Wooding said.

"We also made sure to write to a number of local sporting associations and a lot of them made further suggestions to improve it even more."

Mr Wooding was pleased to report the masterplan had received mostly positive and helpful feedback.

"What this final draft masterplan did was help people know the little practical changes we'd made to make sure we get things right," he said.

"An example of feedback from sporting associations included where to get the right location for the bus parking - we were really pleased to get that feedback."

Works in accordance to the masterplan have already been in progress over the last three years, with a local skate park and water park both now complete, along with a dedicated area for picnics with barbecues installed.

$3 million in grant funding has already been spent plus an additional million from the council itself. Mr Wooding said the overall complex was a five million dollar project.

"Works in the future include a new junior cricket field, where we'll be replacing the old cricket lengths and oval that were already there, and a new little athletics field," he said.

"Also in the report from our sports committee, council decided to accept the tender for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of new LED 500 lux cricket lights.

"The cricket field was always going to be ready for the next cricket season. We're also hoping for some final funding for our amenities block and should have a positive announcement of that funding soon."

The final changes on the Warren Shire Council's Carter Oval Youth Sporting Precinct including Warren War Memorial Swimming Pool Masterplan will be implemented for council's Thursday 2 December meeting.
