Community groups and organisations are looking forward to the first of the Community Financial Assistance Donations from the Warrumbungle Shire Council opening on 5 August.

Up to $500 is available to each organisation to take care of small projects and bills.

"I am delighted to witness the positive impact of these grants on numerous community groups and programs," Warrumbungle Shire Mayor Ambrose Doolan said.

"I strongly encourage all eligible community organisations to submit applications for their respective projects."

The Coonabarabran Volunteer Rescue Association (VRA) successfully applied for a grant of $450 through the Community Financial Assistance Donations in the past to purchase new equipment.

The VRA used the money to purchase fuel drums after the 24-hour Shell in Coonabarabran shut down which was vital for the rescue association.

Mr Goard said the club is hoping to secure additional funding in the upcoming round.

"We're always trying to get new tools and improve our capabilities to support the community," VRA captain Doug Goard said.

"We've had battery tools that are starting to age and I would also like to buy some rescue tools."

Vivian Evans, District Manager of the Coonabarabran Girl Guides said they received a grant a few years ago to redo the footpath leading up to the club.

The footpath to the Coonabarabran Girl Guides club now has easier access.

"We put the footpath in to connect to the front veranda to make it look neat and safer for people of all ages to come," Ms Evans said.

The Coonabarabran Girl Guides currently has 17 eager members.

"They love every minute of the fun, friendship, and adventure," Ms Evans said.

She added that the club is planning to apply for a grant in the coming round as well.

"We've got the front door entrance that needs some paint work. It's getting a bit old and not closing properly."

The Warrumbungle Council has allocated around $150,000 to 150 community groups and organisations through the Community Financial Assistance Program in the past seven years.

Organisations have until September 2 to submit their applications. Council will review the submissions during the October 2024 council meeting.
