NSW Far West SES commander Stephen Leahy says a large force of volunteers have landed in Wilcannia ahead of rising flood waters.

Helicopters, rescue boats and medication are being brought into the area.

‘’We are in the air and on the ground delivering essential supplies together with high clearance vehicles,’’ he said.

‘’A field station begins in Wilcannia on Monday while a Dubbo operation centre is focusing on Bourke where flood waters have peaked at 10.64m but a number of our field team is in Wilcannia this morning.’’

He is asking farmers to look after live stock and for communities to stock up on food.

Two new gauging points are being installed at Talyawalka Creek to track water flows, however, modelling says 800 to 1200 gigalitres will come in the Central Darling Shire in May and June.

He says there are currently 7 advice warnings in place for the Far West.

Minor flooding is expected to continue around Louth and Tilpa has a moderate warning with heights of 10 metres.

‘’Engonnia has fallen below the moderate level and at Ford Bridge water has fallen," Leahy said.

The Central Darling Shire Council has advised motorists to take care on roads.

"Motorists are asked to take care on the roads and to look at the Council website, live traffic and SES Facebook.

"Motorists asked to watch for pot hole and structural damage."
