A woman has been charged after an alleged glassing incident that occurred in Narromine last week and will face court next month.

Last Friday, November 5, two separate groups were seated inside a Narromine pub when a verbal altercation broke out just before midnight.

It is alleged that during the altercation, a woman threw a number of cans at the group before throwing a glass at a 22-year-old woman’s head.

The 22-year-old woman was taken to Narromine Hospital for treatment after the glass caused lacerations to her head and face.

Following police investigations, officers attached to the Orana Mid-Western Police District arrested the 44-year-old woman at a home in Narromine yesterday afternoon (November 7).

The 44-year-old woman was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and was given conditional bail to appear at Narromine Local Court on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.

Crime Manager of Orana Mid-Western Police District Detective Chief Inspector Denise Godden urged the community to drink responsibly as summer approaches and gatherings with friends become more frequent.

“Police will continue proactive operations as the Summer Safe campaign continues across the region,” Det Ch Insp Godden said.

The Summer Safe campaign began this month in preparation for the easing of restrictions that occurred today (November 8) allowing for increased movement and attendance of drinking venues, as well as the reopening of nightclubs and other entertainment venues.

The campaign involves an increased presence targeting drink, drug, distracted and dangerous driving on local roads.

Alcohol-related crime is a focus of the campaign.
