Bogan Shire Council's 3.6 hectare, thirty-three-lot Hoskins Street subdivision will now begin to take shape.
The lead contractor, Conseth Solutions from Dubbo, met with Council last week to begin site establishment on Council-owned land adjacent to the Nyngan Showground.
Council resolved to create the subdivision as part of their efforts to alleviate the shortage of housing in Nyngan.
Mayor Glenn Neill says the project includes the construction of a new public road together with the extension of existing water and power infrastructure and a new reticulated sewer system.
‘’The housing blocks will have an average size of 927 square metres and all will have vehicular access to the new road," he said.
The construction work is expected to be completed by the end of the year in line with council's current program.
Proceeds from the sale of the blocks will help cover the cost of development not met by a NSW Government grant obtained, for the project in 2022.
Member for Barwon Roy Butler says this a game-changer for Nyngan.
‘’This development will supply critical housing for Nyngan, including essential worker housing.

The development didn't come without its complications.
Work was delayed to enable compliance with the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Act which involved a detailed Biodiversity Assessment Report as part of the development application.
"We should make it easier for critical housing supply and essential worker housing developments to go ahead in our regions," Mr Butler said.
"Delaying these projects has a significant impact on regional growth, creating choke points that hinder population growth and economic prosperity.’’
The lots will be offered for sale as vacant housing blocks.
The Council will determine in the coming months, prior to completion of the project, how the land sale will be conducted in the best interests of the community and in line with the objective of providing more land available for people to build homes on.
