Youth celebrated in Warrumbungle Shire Binnaway tennis club will hold tennis sessions as part of Youth Week in Warrumbungle Shire.

Youth Week 2023 runs from 20-30 April 2023 and is a time to celebrate young people and the positive contributions they make, according to the Warrumbungle LGA.

“During Youth Week there will be a variety of activities and events available for children and young people right across the LGA,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan.

“If you are between 12-24 years of age, do not miss your chance to get involved in the opportunities available during Youth Week. The theme for Youth Week 2023 is ‘Connect. Participate. Celebrate.’ All young people in our area are encouraged to embrace the theme in the events and activities.”

Some of the events planned in the Warrumbungle LGA include a tennis session at Binnaway, and the Mendooran Police vs Youth vs Teachers touch footy event.

At Coonabarabran Sports and Recreation Centre there will be something for everyone with crafts, cooking and candle making as well as a Colour Run and barbecue.

Krystel Sutherland, community program facilitator at the Recreation Centre said they have already begun celebrating.

"As we also run a school holiday program, there has been plenty happening," she said. "We have had around 20 kids in every day. Along with candle making we have been involved in 'Hoodies for Homelessness' which is a Mission Australia initiative."

With a Colour Run organised for Friday this week, there are plenty more activities to come.

"We had a movie night planned but have changed this to activities around the Yarning Circle," she said.

Macquarie Regional Libraries is also hosting Cosmic Crafts and workshops at Coolah, Coonabarabran, Baradine and Dunedoo.

“As well as the events planned in the Warrumbungle LGA there will be online activities available for young people. These can be found on the Youth Week website nsw.gov.au/youthweek,” said Cr Doolan. “Youth Week is a great opportunity for our community to celebrate young people and provides opportunities to share ideas, attend events, try new activities and have fun."
