13-year-old threatens peer with knife at school in Bourke

A 13-year-old boy allegedly threatened a peer with a knife at a high school in Bourke yesterday.

Police from the central north district were called to a high school in Bourke at 11am after the suspect threatened another boy.

Around half an hour later police were called to Richard Street in Bourke after reports of a fire were made.

The blaze caused substantial damage to a property before it was extinguished.

The charges laid against the minor included using a knife in school causing a person to fear for their safety, armed with intent to commit an indictable offense, custody of a knife in school, stalking/intimidating intending fear of physical harm, and damage of property by fire/explosion.

Police arrested the 13-year-old boy and took him to Bourke Police Station after investigating the incidents.

No one was injured.

The suspect appeared before a children's court earlier today.
