Baradine support for the RFDSRFDS CEO, Greg Sam accepted the Baradine donation from Glenda Johnston.

The Dubbo Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) base has received a surprise donation from the Baradine community.

A generous contribution of $11,230 was presented to the lifesaving aeromedical service by local resident, Glenda Johnston at their Year in Review event held in Dubbo on Tuesday 28 November.

Glenda explained that the money came from proceeds from the offerings of the Baradine Presbyterian church from 2003 to 2010.

“A decision needed to be made as to where the proceeds from the sale all those years ago should be directed,” Glenda said.

“The RFDS is there for everyone, it provides a vital medical retrieval service to our town and we always support it whenever we can   Living remotely makes us all very grateful for the RFDS, however, it relies on community donations to operate and I cannot think of a better recipient of this money.”

Greg Sam, CEO of the RFDS South Eastern Section said that the donation will have a significant impact on the organisations ability to continue their mission and ensure that essential medical services reach those who need them regardless of their locations.

“It was an honour to meet with Glenda and receive this wonderful gift on behalf of Baradine Presbyterian community,” Greg Sam said. “Glenda travelled a long way to attend our Year in Review event in Dubbo and deliver this sizeable donation.

“The Baradine community group’s dedication to make a positive difference in the lives of others is truly inspiring.

“We are regularly out in Westen NSW, delivering primary care and patient transport services, as well as being available 24/7 for emergencies. We are so appreciative to have the support of these far-reaching communities. They give us just as much as we provide for them, we cannot thank them enough.”
