Police say they have established a crime scene after what could be human bones were found at a property in Coonamble's McCullough Street.

A police spokesperson said they were contacted after the remains were discovered at around 12:30pm on 13 November. 

"Police attended the scene and located a number of other bones," a police statement said.

The spokesperson could not confirm at this stage whether the remains are human.
