Boys arrested in relation to Bourke and Brewarrina break-insFour young people were arrested in Brewarrina yesterday

Two people have been charged following a break and enter in Brewarrina on Tuesday afternoon 27 June.


Detectives attached to Central North Police District established Strike Force Wheen this week, to investigate a string of property-related offences in the Bourke area.


On Tuesday 27 June between 12.30am and 5.50am, a group of people entered a home on Warraweena Street, Bourke.



Police were told the group allegedly stole a laptop, watches, clothing and a Nissan Maxima sedan.


The occupants were home at the time but no one was injured.


Then at about 9am, the Nissan was located on Bourke Street, Brewarrina, where it was seized for forensic examination.


At around 2.30pm that day, police attended a home on Bathurst Street in Brewarrina, following reports of an attempted break-in.


Police arrested a 19-year-old man and three boys – one aged 12 and two 11-year-olds – before they were taken to Brewarrina Police Station.


The older man was charged with deal with property proceeds of crime, enter enclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse and possess prohibited drug.


He was refused bail and appeared at Bourke Local Court yesterday (Wednesday 28 June 2023), where he was formerly bail refused to appear at Dubbo Local Court today (Thursday 29 June 2023).


The 12-year-old boy was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner and enter enclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse.


He was refused bail to appear at a children’s court yesterday Wednesday 28 June 2023.


The two boys – aged 11 – were later released pending further inquiries.


Inquiries by officers attached to Strike Force Wheen continue.
