Cobar police investigate Sunday night stabbing

Police in Cobar are calling for community assistance as they investigate a stabbing that occurred on the weekend.


At about 5.10pm on Sunday 11 December 2022, emergency services were called to a residential area in Murray Street Cobar, following reports of a stabbing.


Officers attached to Central North Police District attended and were told a 34-year-old man had been stabbed by an unknown male.


The 34-year-old was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Cobar District Hospital.


He has since been flown to Westmead Hospital for further treatment and was reported as being in a serious but stable condition.


Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.


Witnesses or residents with information or footage are urged to contact local police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.


Cobar's Fire & Rescue unit were active on social media today encouraging the community to assist police if they could.


"Any information please contact police urgently, it can remain anonymous," they said.

"Let’s work together to keep this beautiful town the safe place it needs to be!"
