Less than quarter second made all the difference for the top prize of $17,800 at Warren's Cotton Cup race on Sunday.
Â
Over 500 people passed the gates at Warren Racecourse for one of the most well attended race meetings in the local club's recent history.
Â
Around 15-20 jockeys vied for a prize pool of over $250,000 across eight races.Â
Â
Warren Jockey Club president Paul Smith said it was the biggest crowd in at least six years.
Â
"We've got obviously COVID behind us and we've had a couple of really good seasons out in the farms," Mr Smith said.
Â
"Having said that, we probably would have had a double the crowd, but all the boys are out harvesting.
Â
"It's great for the community to come together for the day."

Six-year-old horse Ancient Egypt pulled ahead of Sea of Flames with a margin of 0.1 second in the 1600-metre headline race to claim first place.Â
Â
Ancient Egypt's Tamworth trainer Wayne Brown and jockey Michael Heagney joined the winners room along with trainers Clint Lundholm, Brett Robb, Wayne Collison, Mack Griffith and Kathryn Cahill. Â
Â
There were plenty of wins off the track for Warren locals, who had a clean sweep with the fashion on the field.
Â
Esther Kelly won Best Dressed Lady, Will Nicholas Best Dressed Gent.
Â
Best Dressed Couple went to Emma and Louis Welsh, and Loretta Nicholas took home Best Millinery.
Â
Mr Smith said another off-track success was the around 18x10-metre ticketed marquee tent that housed 120 people.
Â
"Even after cut off [for ticketing], we had a high level of demand," Mr Smith said.
Â
"Certainly for next year we'll be looking for probably a marquee twice as big."
