Extreme fire danger conditions close Pilliga Forest areasVisitor areas in the Pilliga Forest will be closed due to extreme fire dangers.

The Pilliga Forest Visitor Areas, including walking tracks, picnic and camping areas will be closed from 4pm Thursday 2 February until 9am Saturday 4 February 2023.

 

Pilliga Forest visitor favourites including the Sculptures and camp ground in the Scrub visitor area at Dandry Gorge, Salt Caves visitor area, campground, lookout tower and Sandstone Caves and walking track are closed due to forecast extreme fire danger conditions.

The Pilliga Forest Discover Centre will remain open despite extreme fire dangers, from 9am-4pm daily.

 

The closure comes just after North West RFS have warned residents of Warren, Nyngan, Coonamble, and Walgett Shires facing extreme or high fire risks.
