Fire and Rescue officers are looking into the circumstances of a house fire at Narromine at 9am Sunday (27 July 2025) but it's not suspicious according to a spokesperson.
The home was totally destroyed in the fire.
An off duty Fire and Rescue officer who lives next door noticed smoke billowing from the home and used a garden hose to try and stop the flames as he called for help.
There was one occupant of the house who is reported to be uninjured.
Emergency services arrived finding it well alight and it took two hours for attempts to salvage the brick house in Merilba Street.
Fire and Rescue NSW from Narromine received assistance from Dubbo station, RFS NSW, with Police and Ambulance also attending.
A HAZMAT team conducted a sweep of the area because there were units behind the home however they were not affected.
Essential Energy attended to disconnect power to the property.
Investigations continue.
