High speed truck driver has licence suspended

Truck driver stopped after being detected 54km/h over speed limit near Coonabarabran


A man has been issued with an infringement notice after being detected 54km/h over the signposted speed limit near Coonabarabran yesterday.



Officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol were patrolling roadworks on the Newell Highway at around 11am yesterday (Monday 29 April 2024) when a B-double truck was detected travelling at 114km/h in a signposted 60km/h area about 10km south of Coonabarabran,.


Police stopped the man and conducted a roadside breath and drug test – both were negative.


The 25-year-old man was issued with an infringement for exceed speed by more than 45 km/h.


The Queensland man’s licence has also been suspended.
