How great thou ART Local Artists on Bogan River

The Bogan River took on a different look this past weekend with a group of local art enthusiasts taking to the riverbanks for a hands-on art lesson.

Under the tutelage of two well-known and well-respected local artists Lynn Hodge and Lyn Quinton, otherwise referred to as the ‘Two Lynnie’s’, budding artists were given the tools and the method to create their very own Landscape in a real-life setting.

After successfully applying for and receiving a Country Art Support Grant (CASP) grant from Outback Arts, the pair put their heads together and came up with the idea of a weekend painting on the local weir.

With the Bogan River full of not only water but a mass of bird life, the pair decided it was the perfect spot to set out their easels, while also providing a great weekend for those wanting to learn or further their painting skills.

Co-organiser Lynn Hodge was thrilled with how the weekend went.

“We completed two days painting with ten super keen ladies. We all loved our painting subject, the beautiful Bogan River.”

“Painting outdoors is always a challenge and weather conditions can change so quickly. We experienced lovely gusts of winds that saw us scrambling along the riverbanks chasing canvases.”

“There was plenty of dust, and it was very warm but none of this stopped anyone’s enthusiasm, their love of art won over,” said Mrs. Hodge.

“The art workshop was a wonderful event out at the Bogan river. It was so relaxing and therapeutic where you tuned into nature, taking notice of the beautiful surroundings to paint and listening to the birds,” said attendee Marina Linke.

“Lynn Hodge and Lyn Quinton provided all art materials needed and went out of their way to help each person by sharing their knowledge and showing them painting techniques,” said Mrs. Linke.

“A big thank you to the Art Teachers for a special experience.”

Co-Organiser Lyn Quinton took to social media thanking participants for a fantastic weekend.

“The top Weir is so peaceful and the old gums beautiful. We did push each artist a bit, but they kept at it,” she said.

The Two Lynn’s are well known in the Bogan Shire for their willingness to share their talents and their desire to pass on their artistic skills.

For many years they have been teaching and sharing the joy of art in Nyngan and with the continued support of such organisations as Outback Arts, the pair hope to keep sharing the love of Art for years to come.
