Two Lightning Ridge men have been charged with illegal hunting on 17 November 2022 after being caught on a rural road with a range of weapons.
The local Police unit at Lightning Ridge was informed of possible illegal hunting activities along the public roads between Lightning Ridge and Collarenebri.
They acted immediately and found the vehicle of interest with two male occupants (aged 30 and 35) not long afterwards.
Police searched the vehicle and the two men where they found and seized two bows, knives, and arrows.
The men will now appear before Lightning Ridge local court on January 25, 2023.

The Rural Crime Prevention Team's North West Zone Coordinator, Detective Sergeant Graham has commended the local team for their efforts in stopping illegal hunting.
"Illegal hunting will not be tolerated and those caught committing these offences may face a range of penalties, significant fines, court appearances and forfeiture of equipment and vehicles.”
“This is a great example of local police being committed to tackling rural crime and the RCPT will continue to train and support local police across the state.”
