A 23-year-old man has been charged with the possession of two stolen firearms from properties in Gilgandra and Warren, according to the Rural Crime Prevention Team.Â
Â
Police arrested the suspect during a traffic stop in Warren on 4 October and took him to the Narromine police station for processing.Â
Â
The firearms, including two .22 Magnum Calibre rifles and a pistol, appear to have been taken during two separate robberies.Â
In a related crime, on the morning of 17 September a vehicle was stolen from a property on Wambianna Road near Warren. Two rifles and a large number of tools were in the vehicle at the time of the theft.Â
Police located the vehicle a day later on Rifle Range Road but there was no trace of the firearms or tools.Â
Â
The pistol (pictured below) is believed to have been taken from a Gilgandra property in 2022.Â
During a search by law enforcement of a property on Dubbo Street in Warren on 27 September police located the stolen firearms.Â
Â
The suspect has been refused bail and will appear before Warren Local Court on 28 November.Â
His charges include possession of an unauthorised pistol, possession of ammunition without holding a license, and receiving stolen property.
