A 23-year-old man has been charged with the possession of two stolen firearms from properties in Gilgandra and Warren, according to the Rural Crime Prevention Team.

Police arrested the suspect during a traffic stop in Warren on 4 October and took him to the Narromine police station for processing.

The firearms, including two .22 Magnum Calibre rifles and a pistol, appear to have been taken during two separate robberies.

In a related crime, on the morning of 17 September a vehicle was stolen from a property on Wambianna Road near Warren. Two rifles and a large number of tools were in the vehicle at the time of the theft.

Police located the vehicle a day later on Rifle Range Road but there was no trace of the firearms or tools.

The pistol (pictured below) is believed to have been taken from a Gilgandra property in 2022.

During a search by law enforcement of a property on Dubbo Street in Warren on 27 September police located the stolen firearms.

The suspect has been refused bail and will appear before Warren Local Court on 28 November.

His charges include possession of an unauthorised pistol, possession of ammunition without holding a license, and receiving stolen property.
