Police calling for information on Walgett brawl

An ongoing investigation is being held into a violent brawl in Walgett last year.


Police have ramped up their call for information on the incident, in which three people were stabbed near the town’s IGA.



About 2.20am on Sunday 22 September 2024, police were called to the corner of Duff Street and Warrena Street, Walgett, following reports of a large brawl.


Officers attached to Central North Police District attended and found a large number of people fighting in the street.


Those involved fled upon police arrival.


NSW Ambulance paramedics treated three people – two boys, aged 17 and a 19-year-old man – for stab multiple stab wounds before being taken to hospital for further treatment.


A crime scene was established, and investigation commenced under Strike Force Calafell.


As part of ongoing inquiries, police have now released images of witnesses they are seeking to identify to assist with their inquiries, pictured below.



Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information or footage to contact Walgett Police Station.


Investigations under Strike Force Calafell will remain open for the forseeable future.
