At 2.20am yesterday morning (Thursday 11 December) Fire Rescue NSW received a triple zero call to a house fire in Cathundril Street in Narromine.

Three FRNSW fire trucks and 12 firefighters responded to the emergency from the Narromine, Trangie and Dubbo stations.

A Rural Fire Service fire truck and firefighters also attended along with police and ambulance.

"On arrival firefighters reported a single level house well alight," a Fire Rescue NSW spokesperson told the Western Plains App.

"Firefighters also reported that the fire was threatening neighbouring properties.

"Firefighters wearing air sets immediately began attacking the fire with lines of hose while also protecting the neighbouring properties.''

A resident who had self-evacuated was assessed by ambulance.

At just after 3.10am firefighters reported that they had contained the fire and neutralised the threat to the neighbouring properties.

Just before 5am firefighters reported that the fire was extinguished and that the house had been destroyed by fire.

A cause is not known at this stage with the incident handed over to police to investigate.
