Much needed rain is playing havoc with key events in the Western Plains.

Narromine’s USMC Diggers race meeting has been postponed to a date to be announced.

However Cobar's PGA Championship Golf event is regrouping for Day Two.

A spokesperson for Racing NSW said ‘’Stewards have conducted a track inspection following 46mm of rain in the past 24 hours which identified areas of concern and with further rain forecast today the decision has been made to postpone the meeting. ‘’

Australian Professional Golfers Association officials said 40mm of rain at Cobar forced the cancellation of the first day of the Senior Sand PGA .

Officials praised the course but said a sunny break will give the field ample time to complete the event Monday.

100 golfers will take on the testing Cobar layout today with 60 professionals and 40 amateurs, many of these locals.

Officials told the Western Plains App a shot gun start Sunday will allow players to tee off at the same time to make up for Saturday’s delay.
