Rider detained in Bourke over alleged speeding

Police say they have detained a rider following reports of two trail bikes speeding around the Bourke township on Friday 12 December.

A police spokesperson said they received "several" calls over motorbikes circling the "exterior road area" of a school.

They said officers later spotted them travelling along Oxley Street and continuing past the police station.

"Shortly after, police detained one of the riders and the motorbike was seized," they said.

"A court order for destruction will now go before Bourke Local Court requesting the motorbike to be destroyed.

"Bourke Police encourage anyone with information to please contact Bourke Police Station on 02 6870 0899, Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."
