Sending music to the world from a 'secret' studio in the WarrumbunglesA successful musician returning to his family's roots has brought his recording technology with him.

Paul Iannuzzelli has a wealth of experience and success as a music producer, song-writer, engineer and musician.

has travelled the world with his skills, working with many musical icons and in the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London, but Mr Iannuzzelli's goal has always been to return to the Gilgandra area and live where his mother grew up.

This dream has been realised by recently combining his love of music and his love of the Western Plains area by setting up a professional recording studio in the Warrumbungle Ranges.

"I have spent a lot of time travelling, visiting 76 countries, living in Italy and working between studios in London and Italy, but I always wanted to come out Gil' way and settle," he said. "I wanted to be as close to Gilgandra as possible and experience the type of life my mother had growing up."

It is high praise for the area, coming from an artist who has performed to crowds of 60,000 and whose songs are published and released in over 136 countries.

Mr Iannuzzelli's said his new recording facility, with views of open fields, the Warrumbungle Mountains and roaming cattle is exactly what he was after when considering to relocate from the NSW Central Coast.

"I still have relatives in the local area and when I first made the move here, I worked as a teacher at Coonabarabran," said Ian.

Still in the teaching realm, Mr Iannuzzelli is the director and founder of MusicPro, a company who offers professional music services including, recording, tuition and on-line courses in subjects such as song-writing, sound engineering and leadership.

With the recording part of his business having relocated, he says that for people coming to the country studios in the Warrumbungles, the experience of the location is as much a part of the artistic process as the technical side of recording.

"I take people horse-riding, bush walking, cook damper over a campfire and of course star gazing as we are Australia's astronomy capital. They always love the views and the country experience. I find that people's unique creativity is often clouded and the location helps immensely."

ABOVE: After a lifetime of world travel, music producer, Paul Iannuzzelli has settled in a farmhouse studio in the Warrumbungle Ranges.

Mr Iannuzzelli said the location helps reset the minds of artist, especially from horseback. He speaks from experience, often assisting his neighbour to muster cattle.

"I am a musician who wanted to be a farmer, and my neighbour is a farmer who wanted to be a musician so it works perfectly," he said.

Over the years, Mr Iannuzzelli has worked with a number of worldwide musical icons such as Rob Davis (Kylie Minogue), Frank Arkright (Abbey Road Studios), Geoff Dugmore (Robbie Williams), Brian Hodgsen (Sir Paul McCartney), Andrae Crouch (Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Madonna), Abraham Laboriel (Michael Jackson, Paul Simon, Barbra Streisand), Mungo Jerry, Sheila E (Prince), Chester Thompson (Phil Collins, Frank Zappa, Weather Report), David Moyse (Airsupply), Oliver Tank, Mark Wilkinson and Tommy Emmanuel.

Now living full-time at his Warrumbungles Studio, Mr Iannuzzelli said he has artists often approaching him and wanting to come and record. The new studio boasts a baby grand piano and 56 channel analogue recording dock, but the exterior of his house is what inspires him most.

"I didn't want a basement studio," he said. "I want to be able to see the beauty outside the windows so the new set-up offers the best of both worlds. I feel a sense of connection.

"There are only two places in the world, after all my travels and experiences; in Italy where the culture lives and breathes, and here where the red dust dances and the open skies shout out the magnificence of this beautiful country called Australia."

Singer-songwriters Rebecca Vorn-Knight and Benjamin Knight used Iannuzzelli's studio to record their latest single.

Iannuzzelli is not the only one in the music industry rediscovering the power of Australia's primitive landscapes.

Recently, Blue Mountains based Folk/Rock duo Piperlain released their brand new single 'Bloom' which was recorded in Iannuzzelli's 'secret' studio before being and mastered at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London by engineer Frank Arkwright.

“Bloom was written after the height of the Covid-19 pandemic," said songwriter Rebecca Voorn-Knight.

"I was inspired by people moving away from the city to rural areas and stories about how people were slowing down, changing pace and reconnecting with what matters most to them.

"The song is about people rediscovering something special in nature as well as perhaps something forgotten in themselves, and a re prioritisation of what’s important in life. It’s about taking a chance, starting a new life and creating a sustainable path."
