An 18-year-old man has been charged over a crash in March that killed a 17-year-old boy.

Emergency services were called on 24 March to The Gipps Way near Burcher, about 50 kilometers south of Condobolin, following reports of a crash.

Police attending the crash located a utility that had left the roadway and rolled.

"The passenger, a 17-year-old boy, died at the scene," a police spokesperson said.
Â
"The driver, an 18-year-old man, was treated for serious injuries by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition.

"A crime scene was established as specialist police investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident."

Following inquiries by the Crash Investigation Unit, the driver was arrested yesterday at Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was charged with dangerous drive occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death.

He was also charged with driving with a low range 'Prescribed Concentration of Alcohol' (PCA), meaning a blood alcohol level between 0.05 to 0.079.

The man was given conditional bail to appear before West Wyalong Local Court on Thursday 21 November 2024.
