Teen charged with police assault in Coonamble

A 17-year-old boy will face court today after allegedly assaulting police in Coonamble.

At around 1:50pm yesterday, officers attended a home at an undisclosed street to speak with the teenager.

A police spokesperson said they entered the home and arrested the teenager.

"It will be alleged the teen resisted arrest while making threats before he spat at an officer and hit another in the face," the spokesperson said.

He was taken to Coonamble Police Station and charged with:

  • Intimidate police officer in execution of duty (two counts),
  • assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm (three counts)
  • hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty, and
  • breach of bail.

He was refused bail to appear at a children’s court today.
