Three women have been transported to hospital yesterday afternoon following a collision involving three separate vehicles in the Narromine Shire.
Just before 1.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 4 May), NSW Ambulance was called to reports of an accident involving two utes and a car on the Mitchell Highway near Trangie.
Six paramedic road crews and a specialist medical team on board the Toll Rescue helicopter were dispatched to the scene.
NSW Ambulance Inspector Lachlan Rush said the accident was caused by a ute colliding with two stationary vehicles.
“It’s understood two of the vehicles had pulled off the highway to assist horses on the road when a ute collided with them from behind,” Inspector Rush said.
On arrival, paramedics treated three patients for various injuries; a woman believed to be in her 60s with severe chest pain, a woman believed to be in her 80s with severe abdominal pain and a woman believed to be in her 50s with neck and shoulder pain.
The woman believed to be in her 60s was transported by paramedics to Orange Hospital while the other two were taken to Dubbo Hospital.
All three women were transported in a stable condition, which Inspector Rush said was fortunate considering the circumstances.
“Accidents like this can often result in critical injuries, it is incredibly lucky the people involved in this collision weren’t more seriously hurt,” he said.
