The national lamb selling record was twice shattered on Tuesday (July 15) at the Forbes Livestock Selling Exchange.
Tullamore grazier Ross McMahon with his 2nd cross lambs born spring 2024 selling for $454 per head.
The lambs have been successfully grown out on the family-owned and operated feedlot.
Two of his pens broke records at Forbes.
‘’It's a once in a lifetime result after some tough years when you're not making money so this is brilliant,’’ Mr McMahon said.
‘’They were recent winners off a 2 kilo hook competition at the Dubbo Show and my kids suggested instead of selling to a supermarket trader we take them to the yards.’’
Archie 11 and Freddie 8 work hard doing things around the sheep yards and on the property at Tullamore.
Their dad said they were at the Forbes sale hoping, and a little nervous, they would be right.

Auctioneer Matt Lennon of KMWL selling agents said the lambs ticked all the boxes.
‘’The lamb was presented by the McMahons in perfect condition," he said.
‘’Ross’s kids saw the opportunity and their work paid off handsomely.’’
The lambs weighed 47 kilos, sold to Goulburn meats in a competitive bidding process at Tuesday’s sale.
Mr Lennon said it was hard to know how high the price of top quality lambs would go.
"It's difficult to say but supermarket traders are keen and prices good, ‘’ he told the Western Plains App.
A few weeks ago lambs broke the record at Dubbo so Mr Lennon is upbeat for sheep farmers.
