A 34- and 35-year-old man have been charged with drugs and firearms offences in Walgett Shire, police reported.Â

The 34-year-old was arrested during a traffic stop on the Gwydir Highway in Collarenebri, on Tuesday, 25 March.Â

Police attached to Strike Force Meningie from the Central North District had found an unregistered .22 calibre rifle, 40 rounds of .22 calibre ammunition, and 7.44 grams of cannabis.Â

He was taken to Walgett Police Station for further processing and charged with two counts of supplying a prohibited drug on an ongoing basis, possession of an unauthorised firearm, possession of an unregistered firearm, possession of ammunition, Apprehended Domestic Violence Order breach, stalking/intimidation, and using carriage service to threaten to kill.Â

The 35-year-old suspect was arrested when police executed a search warrant on Euroka Street in Walgett around 9 am Tuesday, 25 March.

During the search police found six resealable plastic bags containing small quantities of a crystalline substance, other items associated with drug supply, and clothing believed to be associated with an outlaw motorcycle group.

The man was taken to Walgett Police Station where he was charged with three counts of supplying a small quantity of prohibited drug on an ongoing basis, acquiring ammunition subject to a firearms prohibition order, and owning/operating drug premises.

Both men were refused bail before Lightning Ridge Local Court on Wednesday, 26 March.Â
