What could be better than a 40th school reunion? Well winning over $270,000 at the reunion might do it and that’s exactly what happened to a Walgett man over the weekend.
While visiting Forbes, he played a winning Keno Classic 9 Spot entry in draw 537 last Friday taking home a total prize of $271,329.40.
And he was over the moon when a Keno representative called to confirm his win.
“I was at a 40-year school reunion when it happened,” he said.
“I wasn’t watching the draw, but we all saw the screen which said someone in the venue had won. We couldn’t believe it when we realised it was me.
“I’ve been playing the same numbers for over 15 years. I was almost thinking I should change them but I’m glad I didn’t!
“It will come in good use. I’ll be able to pay off some bills and do some other nice things.”
The winning purchase was made at the Vandenburg Hotel in Forbes and Hotel Manager Nick Gunn couldn’t have been happier for the punter.
"We are thrilled," said Mr. Gunn.
“The local school reunion was on, so the venue was already buzzing with excitement and that just made the night even better."
“It certainly livened up the weekend. I had a great weekend. We had a fun time acting young again,” said the happy winner.
