Coonamble local named Tamworth country music ambassadorFormer Coonamble local Max Jackson's singing career continues to rise.

In April 2022, former Coonamble local and Australian country music artist Max Jackson became the 42nd winner of Toyota Star Maker – Australia’s most prestigious country music competition and rounded out a great year as a New Talent of the Year nominee in the Toyota 51st Golden Guitar Awards.

Earlier this year, Ms Jackson released a song called Someone in a Small Town which she filmed in Coonamble and included several local residents in cameos.

Ms Jackson's career continues going from strength to strength, now taking on an exciting new role for the 52nd Toyota Country Music Festival, with organisers announcing her as an ambassador for the iconic event.

Ms Jackson, currently living in Newcastle will work directly with the Toyota Country Music Festival team in lead up to and during the 2024 event to actively promote and support the Festival.

“I am so proud to be announced as an ambassador for the Toyota Country Music Festival, Tamworth,” Ms Jackson said. "As an Australian country music artist, the Tamworth Country Music Festival is what it’s all about."

Max Jackson is excited to embrace her new role and hopes her work as ambassador will inspire artists and fans to come to Australia’s country music capital in January and experience the nation’s largest and longest live music event.

“This spectacular 10-day event brings fans, artists and the industry together in a way that no other event does, and I am so excited to share this unique live music experience with everyone,” she said.

The announcement continues Ms Jackson's stellar career rise. Not only did she sign with ABC Music, she showcased at both CMA Fest in Nashville and at South by South West (SXSW) in Sydney; both prestigious invite only events. Ms Jackson's most recent single, Little More Country, is currently impacting the National Country Airplay Charts.

Toyota Country Music Festival Manager, Barry Harley says the new ambassadorship will ensure the event keeps up with Australia’s dynamic and ever-evolving country music industry.

“We know over recent years there has been a real shift in our audience, with a new generation of talent making waves in the industry,” he said.

“While the Festival continues to recognise and honour our nation’s country music greats and stars from across all the industry’s many sub genres, we know it’s important to champion and support emerging artists to ensure the longevity of our industry and event.

“We’re excited to welcome Max Jackson as an ambassador, whose talent and sound is a refreshing and contemporary approach to Australian country music.”
