Hours of wet and wild water play kept children cool at a family fun day held in Baradine.

The free activity event was organised in partnership with the Baradine Local Aboriginal Lands Council (LALC) and the Baradine preschool and held at the sports oval on Sunday, 3 December.

Water slides, jumping castle, face painting, craft activities and water sprays from the local fire engine, as well as ice creams, cold drinks and sausage sizzle were popular with all on the hot summer day.

“This is a great opportunity to promote our local early childhood services and for the community to meet some of the preschool staff,” said Baradine LALC CEO, Michael Ross.

“We are very pleased with the roll-up and all the great activities for the kids. I think this is the first event of its type to be held in Baradine and we have been working hard to get the message out to the whole community to come along.

“As it has been so successful, I think we will be looking at making this family fun day an annual event.

“I would like to congratulate the preschool on making this a completely free event; they have done a great job.”

Baradine preschool director, Lauren Harris, agreed that the event was a great way to bring the community together and promote the preschool.

“This is the first such event to be hosted jointly by preschool and the Baradine LALC,” Lauren said. “We wanted it to be an inclusive, welcoming and fun occasion and I believe we have achieved that.

“I am hoping that we can establish this as an annual event on the local calendar and perhaps look at some different fun activities for the whole family the next time around.”
