Deputy mayor Stacey Bohm says Narromine’s community is wanting more land to be developed as her fellow councillors voted to submit a Planning Proposal for 36 Jones Circuit, Narromine known as “Amaroo Park” to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment.
Councillor Bohm said it’s all about the Shire’s future.
‘’This is about growing Narromine and helping it prosper… Residents and prospective buyers are screaming out for more land.’’
There was comprehensive support for the decision at this month's council meeting to release more land.
Councillor Judy Smith said ‘’We have to get this project moving for more housing and it’s imperative and potential buyers want different lot sizes.’’
Councillor Adine Hoey agreed saying the council needed to up the ante.
Ros Reynolds of L J Hooker says unlocking more land for the town’s growth potential is critical for Narromine’s future.
“It’s positive for the strength of our town and we have enquires for new vacant land.’’
There have been 21 sales in the last 3 months and Narromine’s potential is promising she says.
The median price for a 3 bedroom home is between $400,000 to $500,000.

Councillors Les Lambert and Brian Leak were concerned about the possibility of a worker’s camp housing new workforce for the Inland Rail project which could also be in the Jones Circuit.
They say it could affect sales of land but council staff said there were so far no indications the rail workers would live in a site there.
Councillors indicated the potential of work force sites in the area was concerning them but agreed it was time to get the project moving.
The intent of the LEP (Local Environment Plan) amendment is to facilitate the development of the land for a large lot residential subdivision.
The development concept plan has achieved a layout with a yield of 20 lots.
A planning proposal is a document that justifies and supports information to allow an LEP adjsutment to be made.
Council staff said the planning proposal is a direct result of a strategic study and follows the direction set by Council.
“Amaroo Park”, 36 Jones Circuit has a total area of 68.748 hectares," a staff member told the meeting.
"This land was identified in the Residential and Large Lot Residential Land Use Strategy 2018 for future R5 expansion.
"In May 2023 Council completed LEP Amendment No 11, to activate land for housing in Trangie and Narromine. ‘’
Council staff said the uptake and demand for residential and large lot residential (LLR) land is faster than the 2018 Strategy anticipated.
