Police continue to search for a man reported missing from Walgett on Friday and have appealed to the community for help to find him.
Elwood Dennis, aged 73, was last seen at a medical facility in Walgett at about 9:45pm on Friday 19 September 2025.
When he was unable to be located, officers attached to Central North Police District were notified and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.
A geo-targeting alert was issued yesterday (Saturday 20 September) to smartphones within Walgett and surrounding areas.
"If you receive a text message from +61 444 444 444, it is NOT a scam," a police spokesperson said.
Family and police hold concerns for his welfare as he lives with dementia.
Elwood is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 160cm tall, slim build with dark brown/grey hair.
He was last seen wearing grey track pants, flannel shirt and carrying a green Woolworths bag.
